UPDATE 10:30 A.M. ET SUNDAY: New England hit Caesars' NFL odds Week 9 market as 2-point chalk last Sunday. By Tuesday evening, the Patriots stretched to -3.5 (even), then backed up to -3 late Thursday.

The Pats are now -3 (+105), with the Commanders landing 57% of spread bets/55% of spread money.

Caesars' total went from 40 to 40.5 Tuesday, then to 41 Saturday. Current splits aren't available.

UPDATE 5:30 P.M. ET FRIDAY: The Patriots opened -1.5 (-115) at BetMGM, got as high as -3.5 (-105) Tuesday, but backtracked to -2.5 (-120) this afternoon. New England is now -3 (even), with ticket count 2/1 on Washington and money running almost dead even.

The Pats have a host of injuries. Wideout DeVante Parker (concussion) is out, and left tackle Trent Brown (ankle/knee) is questionable, as are several defensive players.

The total moved from 40.5 (Under -115) to 40 Monday, returned to 40.5 Tuesday and got to 41 Thursday. The Under is seeing 56% of tickets, while 61% of money is on the Over.

UPDATE 11 P.M. ET SUNDAY: For the second time this season, Washington held a double-digit first-half lead against Philadelphia. And for the second time this season, the Commanders lost.

Washington (3-5 SU/3-4-1 ATS) was up 14-3 in the second quarter, but ultimately lost 38-31 to push as a 7-point home 'dog.

New England got a surprise win over Buffalo in Week 7, but a difficult season resumed in Week 8. The Patriots (2-6 SU and ATS)) lost 31-17 getting 7.5 points at Miami.

Commanders vs Patriots Pick, Prediction

Action Network NFL betting expert Brandon Anderson offers this prediction:

The Patriots have the one good unit on the field, their defense. New England's pass defense has been uneven, but should get pressure on Howell, and the stout run defense should limit Washington's better attack.

Washington ranks bottom four on both offense and defense in the first half of games, so this is a great chance for the Patriots to get in front and get an easy win against a poorly coached team that looks like it might be packing it in for the season.

Pick: Patriots -3 (-110)
