The ninth Sunday of regular season NFL action kicks off with an early morning international series matchup in Germany between the Dolphins and Chiefs. The betting odds see Kansas City as a short favorite hoping to bounce back from an ugly loss in Denver last week. Miami Dolphins vs Kansas City Chiefs Odds

• Opening point spread: Chiefs -2.5
• Opening moneyline: Chiefs -140/Dolphins +120
• Opening total: Over/Under 49.5 points scored
• Time: 9:30 a.m. ET Sunday (NFL Network)

UPDATE 2 P.M. ET WEDNESDAY: Kansas City slipped from -2.5 to -2 in TwinSpires' NFL odds Week 9 market. The Chiefs are seeing 60% of early spread tickets, while 58% of early spread cash is on the Dolphins.

"Sharp play on Miami +2.5," Lucas said.

The total is stable at 50.5, but there's liability on the Over, which is no surprise with these two offenses. Tickets and money are in the 3/1 range on the Over.

"Every week, we need KC Under, and it's been coming through. We'll need it again," Lucas said.

UPDATE 11 P.M. ET SUNDAY: Kansas City saw its six-game SU run (5-1 ATS) end on the road in Week 8. The Chiefs (6-2 SU/5-3 ATS) committed a stunning five turnovers – including two interceptions and a fumble from Patrick Mahomes – in a 23-9 loss as 7-point favorites vs. Denver.

Miami (6-2 SU and ATS) rebounded from its Week 7 loss at Philadelphia. The Dolphins took care of New England 31-17 giving 7.5 points at home.

Dolphins-Chiefs is an early Sunday neutral-site contest in Frankfurt, Germany.

"K.C. didn't look like itself today, but we're not going to overreact here," Michaelson said. "Miami hasn't beaten any good teams yet, and on a neutral field, we're comfortable with K.C. -2.5."

The total nudged up tonight from 49.5 to 50.

Dolphins vs Chiefs Pick, Prediction

Action Network NFL betting expert Brandon Anderson offers this prediction:

All the focus on this game will be on the elite offenses — and Miami's offense has been better than Kansas City's. But the difference in this matchup comes on defense.

The Chiefs' defense ranks top five both against the pass and overall for the season, and Miami's offense has sputtered against top defenses. The Dolphins' defense also hasn't been very good and is bottom 10 by DVOA and bottom five in the first half. Miami has allowed 34 points to Justin Herbert, 48 to Josh Allen and 31 to Jalen Hurts. The Dolphins haven't been able to get off the field against great quarterbacks and their one real strength, the pass rush, is negated by Kansas City's No. 1 Pass Block Win Rate offensive line.

Mahomes is certainly a great quarterback and we don't often get to bet on him with such a low line. Mahomes is 14-4-1 ATS (78%) when he's not at least a 3.5-point favorite in his career. He's also 14-3 SU after a loss. When the line is this tight, there's no need to complicate things. Just bet Mahomes.
