A.J. Brown To Eagles Shakes Up NFL Futures Odds?
The biggest trade in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft saw the Tennessee Titans deal star receiver A.J. Brown to the Philadelphia Eagles for the No. 18 and No. 101 overall picks. Brown was in the final year of his rookie contract and had been seeking a new deal with the Titans. The two sides were unable to come to an agreement, so the Titans flipped him to the Eagles who immediately announced that they had signed Brown to a four-year, $100 million contract with $57 million of guaranteed money. That has impacted Philadelphia’s future odds since the Eagles now have an elite receiver to pair alongside DeVonta Smith.
PHILADELPHIA EAGLES ODDS
The Eagles were one of the teams that were rumored to be interested in Deebo Samuel, but they instead pulled the trigger on A.J. Brown. The third-year receiver out of Georgia is coming off the least productive season of his career due to missing four games, yet he is still considered one of the best young players at his position. Brown had over 1,000 receiving yards in each of his first two years, and he gives Jalen Hurts another solid option alongside DeVonta Smith.
We didn’t see a real change in the futures markets despite the blockbuster trade. Philadelphia is still +300 to win the NFC East and +2000 to win the NFC, as the biggest question on this team is the quarterback. Brown and Smith are all a signal caller can ask for on the perimeter, but Hurts might not be able to take advantage.
Philadelphia’s other big move on draft day has the potential to have a huge impact. The Eagles traded up two spots to select defensive tackle Jordan Davis out of trouble, and he could stuff the middle of the defensive line for a decade.
TENNESSEE TITANS ODDS
The Titans went about replacing Brown by drafting Arkansas receiver Treylon Burks with the 18th pick in the draft. Burks was the last receiver taken in the first round, but he has the size and speed to thrive at the next level. He was a First Team All-SEC receiver after catching 66 passes for 1,104 yards and 11 touchdowns.
There wasn’t any movement in Tennessee’s futures odds immediately after the NFL Draft either. The Titans don’t have to rely on their rookie receiver too much as this is a run-first team with a healthy Derrick Henry leading the way. Robert Woods was acquired from the Los Angeles Rams last month as well.
