KANSAS CITY CHIEFS vs. ARIZONA CARDINALS BETTING PREDICTION

The Chiefs begin their season where they hope to finish it, at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Ariz., home of Super Bowl LVII. And the Cardinals hope to continue what is now a two-year streak of the host team winning the Super Bowl.

The Chiefs did a good job against NFC opponent in 2021, winning all five games, while going 3-2 ATS. Kansas City saw the UNDER cashed at a 4-1 clip in those games, with the lone OVER result a Week 3 thriller in Philadelphia, 42-30. The Chiefs offense came alive last season, especially on the road, going for 28, 31, 34 and 41 in its final four road trips, and it's no surprise the OVER cashed in each of those outings.

The Cardinals saw its season end against the eventual Super Bowl champions, losing the Los Angeles Rams 34-11 at SoFi Stadium in the NFC Wild-Card Game. Arizona has the pieces in place to make some noise, and this will be a tremendous measuring-stick game to see if it is a serious contender, or just another in a long line of wannabe teams in the NFC.

KANSAS CITY CHIEFS BETTING ANALYSIS

The Chiefs have won 11 consecutive regular-season games against NFC opponents, going 6-5 ATS during that span. The last time the Chiefs fell to an NFC foe was 31-24 in Week 9 of the 2019 season against the visiting Green Bay Packers. Kansas City has won six games in a row on the road against NFC foes, going 4-2 ATS. It's last loss to an NFC opponent on the road was Week 16 of the 2018 season, a 38-31 loss at Seattle.

It will be interesting to see how QB Patrick Mahomes deals with a little bit of change. Gone is WR Tyreek Hill, shipped to the Miami Dolphins. Mahomes must now build rapport with new WRs Juju Smith-Schuster and Marquez Valdes-Scantling, two big additions in the offseason.

Kansas City has cashed in eight of the past 11 games overall, while going 8-3 ATS across the past 11 games as a favorite. The Chiefs have managed to cover in four of the past five regular-season openers, too.

As far as the totals are concerned, it's all OVER all the time for the Chiefs. The OVER is 17-7 across their past 24 games played in the month of September, while going 4-0 in the past four on the road. The OVER is 7-0 in the past seven regular-season openers, too, so the Chiefs are usually locked, loaded and raring to go when Week 1 comes around. The OVER has hit in seven of the past eight as a favorite, too.

ARIZONA CARDINALS BETTING ANALYSIS

The Cardinals had a similar kind of success against AFC teams as the Chiefs had last season against the NFC. While Arizona lost its most recent game in Week 16 on Christmas Day to the Indianapolis Colts, 22-16, it ended up 4-1 SU/ATS against the AFC, with the UNDER also going 4-1 in those five matchups.

The Cardinals offense was hit or miss, and that's cause for concern. The team pulled up the Brinks truck and paid QB Kyler Murray in that now infamous contract, which no longer requires a certain amount of individual film study. Can he produce more consistently now that his wallet is fattened up? Down the stretch the Cards posted 30, 25, 16, 12, 23, 23 and 10 in the final seven games. You just never knew which team was going to show up and where.

Arizona is 6-1 ATS in the past seven instances as an underdog, while going 0-5 ATS in the past five games in front of the home fans.

For totals, the OVER is 5-2 in the past seven as a home underdog, but the UNDER is 21-8 in the previous 29 games played in the month of September. The lean here is to the OVER, with the Cardinals coming up short against Mahomes and company.
