New York Jets vs. Pittsburgh Steelers Picks, Predictions, Odds
Week 4 of the NFL season continues Sunday afternoon as the New York Jets travel to meet the Pittsburgh Steelers in an AFC battle at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on Sunday. Coverage begins at 1 p.m. ET on CBS.
NEW YORK JETS vs. PITTSBURGH STEELERS BETTING PREDICTION
The Jets and Steelers meet for the first time since Dec. 22, 2019, a 16-10 victory by the Jets in East Rutherford, N.J. The Steelers won the most recent meeting at Heinz Field, now named Acrisure Stadium, posting a 31-13 triumph as 10-point favorites on Oct. 9, 2016. The home team is 5-1 SU/ATS across the past six meetings in this series, too.
New York was unable to follow up its epic comeback win in Week 2 at Cleveland with much success, falling 27-12 at home against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 3. The Jets rushed for just 76 yards while posting 252 yards through the air against the defending AFC champs. Turnovers were the problem against Cincinnati, as New York coughed it up four times to just once for the Bengals.
The Steelers have had a few extra days to ponder things after a 29-17 loss at Cleveland on Thursday Night Football in Week 2. These teams have each player the Browns and the Bengals so far, with Pittsburgh topping Cincinnati on the road in OT in Week 1, before the loss in Cleveland. The Jets won in Cleveland in Week 2, but lost to the Bengals in Week 3 on their home field. So what can you glean from that? Yeah, not much.
The key here is that the Steelers are at home, and while QB Zach Wilson (knee surgery) is expected to make his season debut after having arthroscopic surgery during the preseason after an early August injury, Pittsburgh should be able to get it done at home.
Score Prediction: Steelers 26, Jets 18
Best Bet: Steelers -3 (-115)
Best Bet: OVER 41 (-110)

NEW YORK JETS BETTING ANALYSIS
The ATS record of the Jets has mirrored their results straight up so far, losing and failing to cover in a 24-9 loss at home to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 1, winning and covering as an underdog in Cleveland in Week 2, and suffering a 27-12 loss and non-cover against the Bengals in Week 3.
As mentioned, Wilson is expected to make his regular-season debut, but it's not as if the team is welcoming back Patrick Mahomes or Aaron Rodgers under center. Wilson is still a work in progress, and the only thing that is a certainty with this guy is that he likes moms.
New York is just 16-33-2 ATS in the past 51 road games, while going 3-9 ATS in the past 12 against teams with a losing record. It is also 4-10 ATS in the past 14 games in the month of October, too.
For totals, the Jets have seen a lot of OVER results in parts of the past two seasons. The OVER has hit in five of the past seven on the road, while hitting at a 4-0 clip in the past four October games. The OVER is also 5-0 in the past five Week 4 games, for whatever that's worth.
PITTSBURGH STEELERS BETTING ANALYSIS
The Steelers looked like they might be able to defy the odds a bit, as they were picked to finish in the basement of the AFC North by most talking heads. In Week 1, Pittsburgh surprised Cincinnati 23-20 in overtime on the road, and it looked like the Steelers might not be that terrible. However, after a pair of losses to slip to 1-2 SU, and QB Mitch Trubisky looking mediocre at best, the original thoughts on the Steelers still apply. They're hot garbage.
Pittsburgh is 3-0-1 ATS in the past four home games, however, while going 4-0 ATS in the past four games following a non-cover. Head coach Mike Tomlin is a dawg, and he doesn't let his team flounder for very long. And add in the fact the Steelers had a couple of extra days to recover from their most recent game, and Coach T will have this team ready.
On totals, it's the exact opposite for the Steelers compared to the Jets. The UNDER is 5-0 in the past five home games, while going 25-9-1 in the past 35 games in the month of October.
The home team has cashed in five of the past six meetings, which favors the Steelers, while the UNDER has connected in five straight in the series.
