Having the over in an Eagles game this year doesn’t make you a handicapping superstar. Although, Philadelphia’s winning percentage in totals is one game better than their 8-5 ATS record for the side. They head to Soldier Field having scored at least 35 in three straight and totaled 113 points in those wins. Earlier in the season, The Eagles were playing the tale of two halves when it came to scoring. That included a run of five in a row where they scored nine points or less in the second half. They seemed to have fixed that issue.

What team leads all of the NFL in games going over the total? No drumroll is needed here as it’s a trick question. Chicago has had eight of their last nine cash tickets on the over and is tied with their opponent in this one, and the Detroit Lions, with nine of their 13 games going over the total. Most of those have seen it happen because they’re allowing 27 points or more to everyone they play. That’s not a great stat to have when you’re about to host a team that’s 12-1 and undefeated on the road.

Texans Team Total Under 17

Matchup: Kansas City at Houston
Date: Sunday, December 18, 2022
Venue: NRG Stadium
Location: Houston, Texas
Time-TV: CBS, 1:00 p.m. ET

That was a tough last-minute loss, as two touchdowns underdogs, for the Texans last week. The scoreboard makes it look like they went toe to toe with the 10-3 Cowboys, but those 23 points were mostly early Christmas presents from the Dallas offense and special teams. There were a couple of turnovers that gave Houston short fields, and they took advantage of both of them with touchdown drives of 24 and 27 yards.

Those two combined for 50 points and that wasn’t enough to cost the game for under bettors as the line closed at 52 ½. It’s tough taking an under in a Chiefs game because they can sometimes put up enough to cover that number by themselves.

We’re going to make some assumptions about taking the Texans team total under against Kansas City. The Chiefs look like they’re making their annual playoff push, that Houston loss, even for a team that’s 1-11-1, had to hurt more than the other 10, and in their last four at home, this team has scored 17 or fewer in all of them.

Titans-Chargers Under 46.5

Matchup: Tennessee at Los Angeles
Date: Sunday, December 18, 2022
Venue: SoFi Stadium
Location: Los Angeles, California
Time-TV: CBS, 4:25 p.m. ET

The Titans sure did pull a bad time to come back to reality. Getting whacked by the Eagles isn’t really that big of a deal this year. Philadelphia has the best record in the league and is doing the same thing to most of their opponents.

The Jacksonville Jaguars, not so much and they thoroughly dominated the Titans last week gifting the leaders of the AFC South their third loss in a row. Those 22 points they scored in Florida may not seem much, but it was their second-largest total in the last nine games only topped by the 27 they scored on Green Bay. They’ve also had six straight road games stay under the total.

Los Angeles, well the Chargers anyway, are battling for a playoff spot and this is a huge game for them. That’s normally when they crap out and they’ve scored nine points or less in the second half in seven of their last eight. If great teams show up after halftime, then this team doesn’t fit that description. Five of their last six have gone under and it’s six straight under the total for that all-too-important second half. Let’s hope they continue that trend on Sunday.
