After finishing Top 2 in the division in four straight campaigns and making the playoffs three times during that span, the tables have finally been turned on Tennessee in the AFC South. The Titans currently sit dead last in the division standings with a record of 4-8, and the situation only appears to be getting worse as they find themselves tagged as huge road underdogs this week in Miami on Monday Night Football.

According to VegasInsider’s Patrick Everson, BetMGM originally opened the line for this contest at Dolphins -13 last Sunday, and after spending a brief amount of time at -13.5 and -14 early in the week, most shops have retreated back to Dolphins -13 as kickoff approaches, despite Miami attracting counts of 4/1 tickets and 9/1 money as of Friday evening.

Plain and simple: Tennessee hasn’t been very good on either side of the ball this season regardless of who plays quarterback. The Titans went 2-4 in games started by Ryan Tannehill, while averaging 17.3 points scored and 19.5 points allowed in those contests. They are also 2-4 since passing the baton to Will Levis, while averaging 18.2 points scored and 23 points allowed during their latest stretch.

That said, Tennessee usually still finds a way to keep its games competitive, highlighted by the Titans posting losses in six of their last eight games, with four of those losses coming by one-score margins, and two of their last four defeats coming by four points or less.

On the other side of that same coin, the main reason why the spread for this contest is so wide is due to the high combustibility of the Dolphins offense. Miami leads the league in total yardage and ranks second in scoring at 32 points per game, and whenever the Dolphins offense begins to gain steam, it’s incredibly difficult to slow down the freight train, highlighted by Miami scoring 31+ points in 7-of-12 contests this season.

However, don’t let the yearlong numbers fool you into thinking the Dolphins offense is totally unstoppable. Miami has also had its fair share of struggles, especially since the midway point of the season. The Dolphins have scored 20 points or less in three of their last six games, despite still managing to escape with wins in four of those contests and avoid a serving of mainstream criticism.

The Dolphins wield enough firepower to run away with a blowout victory in any given matchup, but all things considered, Miami is laying way too many points in this spot.

Tennessee may own a lackluster record of 4-8 on the year, but the Titans are a competitive football team that isn’t accustomed to losing as much as they have this season. And although it isn’t entirely their fault, the Dolphins offense has been heavily overrated ever since they erupted for 70 points against Denver back in Week 3. Take the pair of TDs with Tennessee.

Tennessee Titans Betting Analysis

The Titans offense certainly hasn’t been anything to write home about since handing over the keys to Levis. However, at least we can say the rookie has done a decent job of protecting the football. Levis has thrown just two interceptions in six starts this season, and he enters this contest following three straight performances without a turnover through the air – and I think Miami’s defense is going to need a few turnovers in order to cover this enormous spread.

Miami Dolphins Betting Analysis

Tua Tagovailoa is notorious for being a quick and calculated decision maker in the Dolphins passing game. However, he’s been pretty careless with the football this season. Tagovailoa has thrown an interception in 8-of-12 games on the year overall, which seems to be gaining momentum as he’s thrown a pick in four of their last six affairs – and I simply can’t see Miami covering this spread if they don’t win the turnover battle by a significant margin.
