Betting on the Philadelphia Flyers
There are four major professional sports franchises that call Philadelphia home. The NHL’s Flyers have earned a huge following in this premier sports town. This high level of support includes hockey fans that are looking to legally bet on the games all across Pennsylvania.
Philadelphia Flyers Overview
The Flyers’ roots in Philadelphia can be traced back to a major NHL expansion effort in 1967. The team qualified for the Stanley Cup Playoffs in its first season in the league. This started a long tradition of excellence as a cornerstone franchise in the NHL.
The glory years for the Flyers consisted of 17 seasons and 17 postseason appearances from 1972 until 1989. As a perennial playoff team, Philadelphia won back-to-back Stanley Cup Championships in 1974 and 1975. The team would make two more trips to the NHL’s championship series in 1985 and 1987.
Going back to the mid-1970’s, the Flyers were better known as the Broad Street Bullies for their aggressive style of play.
All told, the team has won two NHL world titles with another four runs to the championship series. Legends on the ice wearing a Flyers’ jersey start with Bobby Clarke and Bernie Parent as the biggest NHL stars in franchise history.
Playing in the Metropolitan Division of the NHL’s Eastern Conference, bitter rivalries run deep in Philly. This starts with the Pittsburgh Penguins as in-state foes. You could also add the New York Rangers and Washington Capitals to that list.
Popular bets on Flyers’ games include the NHL moneyline when they are favored at home. If Philadelphia was listed as a -145 home favorite against the Rangers, you would have to wager $145 at your favorite PA sportsbook to collect $100 on a Flyers’ victory.
