Betting on the Vegas Golden Knights
The first professional sports franchise in Nevada based in the famous sports betting town of Las Vegas is also one of the best.
The NHL’s Vegas Golden Knights have been perennial contenders in each of their first five seasons in the league. This has also made the Knights a very popular betting team in their own backyard.
Vegas Golden Knights Overview
Heading into the 2017/2018 NHL season, the Vegas Golden Knights made their debut as the 31st team in the league. The excitement alone of playing in a major sports betting town made the team an instant hit with the betting public.
It also helped that this expansion team was rather good. Vegas went all the way to the Stanley Cup Finals that season. The Golden Knights came up well short against the Washington Capitals in a 4-1 series loss in the championship series. Yet, this is still viewed as an impressive accomplishment for a first-year team. They eventually won the Stanley Cup Finals in 2023.
Over the next few seasons, Vegas has been a force in the Western Conference’s Pacific Division. Natural rivalries have been formed with the Los Angeles Kings and San Jose Sharks. The Knights also play in the same division as the Seattle Kraken, who made their NHL debut as an expansion team ahead of the 2021/2022 season.
Betting on Vegas remains a big draw for the sportsbooks in town as well as all across legal markets in the US. One of the best ways to bet on a Golden Knights’ game is on the NHL total line.
A sports bettor does not have to pick the winner of a Vegas game. Rather, the wager covers the OVER/UNDER on the total combined goals scored in that game. Most NHL total lines are set between 5.5 and 6.5 goals.
🏒 Betting on the Vegas Golden Knights in Nevada 🏒
Legal sports betting in Nevada has been around since 1931. This is one of the main reasons why professional sports franchises were reluctant to locate a team in this state.
Changing attitudes towards legal sports betting were the main push behind the NHL awarding an expansion franchise to Las Vegas. The Knights have blazed a trail followed by the NFL’s Las Vegas Raiders.
Both the NBA and MLB also realize the value of building a presence in this sports betting town. The Oakland Athletics are moving to Las Vegas, and an NBA expansion franchise may come one day too.
Vegas Golden Knights Partnership With Sportsbooks
Playing in Las Vegas has opened the door to many lucrative sponsorship possibilities with various gaming entities. However, Vegas has a unique distinction when it comes to partnerships with legal sportsbook operators.
The Knights were the first US professional sports franchise to form a partnership with a legal US sportsbook when they joined forces with William Hill in September of 2018. This was shortly after the US Supreme Court gave individual states the right to govern and regulate legal sports betting.
