Great Dane Nation

Back to VegasInsider Shows

Great Dane Nation was a podcast hosted by Pro Football Hall of Fame kicker Morten "The Great Dane" Andersen! Each week, Morten was joined by fellow legends of the game to talk about their life in football, tell stories, talk about today’s NFL, and bring our listeners inside the locker room in a way they’ve never been before. Occasionally, Morten was joined by his friends from outside the football world, like Charles Barkley and Bill Murray! Each episode, Morten was joined by his sidekick, TommyFreezePops (Tom Carroll). They would talk ball, preview each week's biggest games, and have a ton of fun along the way. Check out our amazing archive of episodes right here on VegasInsider!

Morten Andersen entered the NFL as a 4th round draft pick of the New Orleans Saints in 1982. After 25 seasons, he left the game as the most prolific scorer in league history. He went to the Pro Bowl 7 times, and was named 1st-team All-Pro 5 times during his legendary career. In addition to his time with the Saints, Morten also kicked for the Atlanta Falcons, New York Giants, Kansas City Chiefs and Minnesota Vikings. Among the most notable career records he set were career points (2,544), most field goals (565), and games played (382). He is also one of the rare players in NFL history to be named to two NFL All-Decade Teams (1980s & 1990s). Morten hosted 90 episodes of Great Dane Nation for VegasInsider, and made numerous guest appearances across multiple Better Collective brands around the globe.

TommyFreezePops (Tom Carroll) is the media manager at VegasInsider, where he can be heard on various podcasts across the VegasInsider Podcast feed: Tom & Thom, Pound For Pound Picks, and more! He joined the VI team in the summer of 2020 as producer/cohost of Great Dane Nation, and was promoted into his current role in January of 2022. With a background in sports radio, he’s made stops at both the network level (ESPN Radio & FOX Sports Radio) and large-market local level (98.5 The Sports Hub, WEEI Sports Radio Network & 101 ESPN St. Louis). He's a 2014 graduate of Emerson College in Boston, and a native of Lincoln, RI. He’s a firm believer that a hot dog is, indeed, a sandwich, and he once accidentally sent an email blast to thousands of ESPN employees letting them know he put freezepops in the break room freezer…people don’t forget!
