Toby Maxtone-Smith, the resident soccer expert at VI, cashed some huge tickets in Bundesliga Matchday 29 last week.
- Hertha Berlin to win at 10/11 (WIN +100)
- Schalke 04-Werder Bremen Draw at 12/5 (LOSS -100)
- Bayern Munich to win 4-0 at 8/1 (LOSS -100)
- Bayern Munich to win 5-0 at 11/1 (WIN +1,100)
- Borussia Mönchengladbach to win at 1/2 (WIN +50)
- Borrussia Dortmund Thorgan Hazard to score first at 9/2 (WIN +450)
Bettors staking $100 on all six of his picks would've netted a return of $1,500. The two big tickets were the exact score of Bayern Munich's 5-0 romp over Fortuna Düsseldorf, plus he drilled Thorgan Hazard to net the first goal in Borussia Dortmund's 6-1 domination against Paderborn.
Toby is locked and loaded with five more "Best Bets" and the action starts early on Sunday.
Saturday's Bundesliga Picks
June 6, 2020
Match: Bayer Leverkusen vs. Bayern Munich
Bayern Munich are steaming inevitably towards yet another Bundesliga title but their march could be slowed by an underrated Bayer Leverkusen side. Aside from a 4-1 defeat to Wolfsburg that looks like an aberration, Leverkusen have won four of their last five games, Kai Havertz has been their main man and is fit for this one after taking a knock in their win against Freiburg last time out. Bayern a real force, but at the prices Leverkusen just look underrated.
They are 5/1 to win, but the 15/4 about a draw looks a more tempting proposition given that one point would be a reasonable result for Bayern too.
Tip: Draw at 15/4
Match: Eintracht Frankfurt vs. Mainz
Eintracht Frankfurt lost a lot of their main players from last season, and for much of this year had been flirting with relegation. But their performances were always a lot better than their results, and in recent weeks fortune has turned their way after deserved victories away to Wolfsburg and Werder Bremen. Their opponents on Saturday are Mainz, who have won only one of their last eight games - a 2-0 home win against bottom side Paderborn.

Eintracht comprehensively beat Werder Bremen in their last match, and Mainz are a similar quality side. The hosts should have few problems here.
Tip: Eintracht Frankfurt to win at 1/1
Match: Borussia Dortmund vs. Hertha Berlin
Jadon Sancho looked worryingly unfit in his first two substitute appearances post-lockdown for Dortmund, but he netted a hat-trick in Dortmund’s 6-1 thrashing of Paderborn and looked back to his best. Erlind Håland remains sidelined with injury, placing greater emphasis on the England international. He has 17 goals in 22 starts in the league this season, and although they face a Hertha side that has hit form since the appointment of Bruno Labbadia, the hosts have been red-hot at Signal Iduna Park this season and should dominate proceedings.
At 7/2 Sancho is a good first goalscorer bet.
Tip: Jadon Sancho to score first at 7/2
Sunday's Bundesliga Picks
June 7, 2020
Match: Union Berlin vs. Schalke 04
Two of the Bundesliga’s most out of form teams face off at the Stadion Alten Foresterei. Union Berlin know that, if their bad run continues, they could end up being relegated, while Schalke are just a disaster at the moment. They are 11th, but without a win since 17 December and have lost their last four games. Their last two defeats came against the teams in 16th and 17th in the league.
Union Berlin look fair enough at 11/8. 20 of their 33 points have come at home this season, and their 4-1 loss at Borussia Mönchengladbach was a touch unfortunate. They only lost the shot count 15 to 12.
Tip: Union Berlin to win at 11/8
Match: Augsburg vs. Cologne
Two lower-mid-table sides face off here in what looks like it could be a high-scoring game. Of Augsburg’s matches this season 62% have seen over 2.5 goals, while that stat for free-scoring and free-conceding Cologne is 79%. All of Cologne’s last 12 matches have also seen three or more goals. Jhon Cordoba will be a significant miss for Cologne, but in Anthony Modeste Cologne have an experienced, able deputy.
Augsburg are still in some relegation trouble and will therefore look to attack, especially given that they are at home, while Cologne will be able to play more freely given the seven point cushion between them and Fortuna Düsseldorf, who occupy the relegation play-off place.
Tip: Over 2.5 goals at 8/11
