Champions League Predictions and Betting Tips | Wednesday, April 9 2025

After last night's blockbuster fixtures, which saw a humbling of current champions Real Madrid and a defeat for German giants Bayern, tonight sees the other four remaining teams in action. Barcelona, many people's favourites for the tournament, go up against Borussia Dortmund, while Aston Villa travel to play French champions Paris Saint-Germain.
We'll be giving our Champions League predictions for both games below, complete with odds from bet365, the UK's number one online bookie.

Barcelona vs Borussia Dortmund Preview

Barcelona | Draw | Borussia Dortmund |
27/100 | 5/1 | 8/1 |
Barcelona are the team to beat, not just in La Liga, but also in the Champions League. But Dortmund are no pushovers, despite what their disappointing position in the Bundesliga suggests. If they can stay within touch of Barca, who knows what could happen in the return leg in Germany?
Barcelona are in stunning form, having not lost in 22 matches in all competitions, although their last game was a disappointing 1-1 draw with Betis. Dortmund have won their last two games, both in the Bundesliga, but have experienced several disappointing results this season, leaving them 8th in the league.
Dani Olmo looks set to miss out for Barcelona, while Inigo Martinez is a doubt. Marc-Andre ter Stagen also remains on the sidelines. But Raphinha should return to partner Lewandowski and Yamal in attack. For Dortmund, Marcel Sabitzer and Nico Schlotterbeck are both ruled out with injuries.
Prediction
This match has a Barca win written all over it, and the bookies agree. Dortmund fans will probably be happy if their team can just not fall too far behind before the second leg - something that's not guaranteed if Barcelona's front three are on song.
Our Champions League Prediction: Barcelona 3-0 Borussia Dortmund
PSG vs Aston Villa Preview

Paris Saint-Germain | Draw | Aston Villa |
1/2 | 10/3 | 15/2 |
If the bookies are to be believed, PSG are a shoe-in for this game. But PSG's fragility is well-known, and Villa are certainly capable of causing a surprise on their day. And in players like Marcus Rashford and PSG-loanee Marco Asencio, Villa have the players capable of causing the French champions problems.
PSG go into the game in great form, having lost just once in 29 games. But most of those games were in the uncompetitive French league, so form isn't a great indicator of strength. However, they were certainly impressive in their win over Liverpool in the last round. Villa are also in good form, winning their last seven games in all competitions.
The French champions will be without Lee Kang-in tonight, as he's injured, plus captain Marquinhos will serve a one-match suspension. For Villa, Ross Barkley is the only player definitely sidelined through injury. Leon Bailey is a doubt, while Donyell Malen is ineligible to play.
Prediction
PSG go into the game as favourites, but Villa are tenacious and have shown great form recently. The Parisians should take the win, but Villa will be confident of still being in the mix when the second leg takes place at Villa Park next week.
Our Champions League Prediction: Paris Saint-Germain 2-1 Aston Villa
