Brighton vs Aston Villa Preview

We start on the south coast, where Brighton, without a loss in their last five Premier League games, host an Aston Villa side struggling to match the high expectations created by last season's impressive finish.

Both sides come into the game after FA Cup antics over the weekend. While Brighton lost on penalties to the resurgent Nottingham Forest, Villa forced their way into the semis with a simple win over Preston. In terms of Premier League form, Brighton haven't lost in five, while Villa's form has been mixed.

Brighton's injury-hit season continues, with around 10 first-team names missing, including Joel Veltman, Tariq Lamptey, and Solly March. Villa, on the other hand, only have one injury concern, with Ross Barkley set to miss out.

Prediction

There's everything to play for in this game, with both sides battling for Champions League qualification. Villa's record against Brighton is superb, only losing once in their last eight matchups, but they've been poor away, while Brighton have been strong at home. Expect a close match.

Our Premier League Prediction: Brighton 2-2 Aston Villa

Manchester City vs Leicester City Preview

Things aren't going well for Manchester City, and they got even worse yesterday with the news that Erling Haaland is set to be on the sidelines for 7 weeks. And it's not great in Leicester either, as they sit in 19th after 7 defeats on the bounce.

Last time the sides locked horns, City ran out 2-0 winners. Guardiola's side come into the game after reaching the FA Cup semis over the weekend, while Leicester should be well rested, having last played in mid-March, although many players will have turned out for their international teams in the meantime.

Other than Haaland, City are also still missing Ballon d'Or winner Rodri, slated to be out for the rest of the season. Leicester are without Abdul Fatawu, but hope Ricardo Pereira can return after missing the game against Manchester United.

Prediction

The odds massively favour City in this match, as do pretty much all pundits. The question isn't whether City will win, but by how many. Haaland won't be around to lead the line, but in Marmoush, City have an in-form replacement. This one could get ugly for Leicester fans.

Our Premier League Prediction: Manchester City 4-0 Leicester City

Kicking off 15 minutes after the day's other games, the Merseyside Derby is undoubtedly the day's headline act. Liverpool go into the match with a huge lead atop the Premier League standings, while Everton are starting to solidify under David Moyes, becoming draw specialists in recent games.

Last time out, the sides played out a 2-2 draw at Goodison Park - a bad-tempered affair that saw red cards for Curtis Jones and Abdoulaye Doucoure. Coming into this game, Liverpool come off the back of a 2-1 defeat to Newcastle in the Carabao Cup final, as well as elimination from the Champions League. Everton haven't lost in their past nine Premier League games, as David Moyes bids to steady a previously sinking ship.

Liverpool will have to deal with injuries to Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joe Gomez, and Conor Bradley. However, Alisson and Ryan Gravenberch should be fit, despite pulling out of international duty. Everton will be without Dominic Calvert-Lewin, while Vitalii Mykolenko is doubtful. Iliman Ndiaye and Dwight McNeil are back in training, but are unlikely to feature against Liverpool.

Prediction

Everton have been solid recently, showing the kind of resilience associated with a David Moyes side. But this is Liverpool, at Anfield - a tough task for even the best of sides. What's more, the international break came at the right time for the Reds, just as their season started to wobble. Expect Liverpool to come out on top.

Our Premier League Prediction: Liverpool 2-0 Everton

There are also three other Premier League fixtures today. You can see them below, along with our Premier League predictions:

  • Southampton vs Crystal Palace: Southampton are almost certain to go down, while Palace have nothing to play for in the league. The Saints have been terrible this season, while Palace are on a roll, so expect the Eagles to come out on top. Our Premier League Prediction: Southampton 0-2 Crystal Palace
  • Bournemouth vs Ipswich: Ipswich also look certain to go down this season, while Bournemouth are pushing for Champions League qualification. However, neither side is playing great football currently. Expect Bournemouth to win, but not as easily as some might expect. Our Premier League Prediction: Bournemouth 2-1 Ipswich
  • Newcastle vs Brentford: Newcastle, fresh off their Carabao Cup triumph, will need to win to maintain their push for Champions League football. Brentford, on the other hand, have little more to play for this season. But Brentford's counter-attacking proficiency could be dangerous against the Toon, who will look to dominate at home. Our Premier League Prediction: Newcastle 1-1 Brentford
