Weekend Predictions
La Liga, Bundesliga, Premier League

Matchup: Leganés at Celta Vigo

League: La Liga
Date: Saturday, 7:00 a.m. ET

Best Bet: Celta Vigo to win at 4/5

There is a huge relegation six-pointer in Galicia on Saturday as 17th-placed Celta Vigo face 19th-placed Leganés, and the hosts come into the match in much better form. They secured a shock 2-2 draw at Real Madrid last weekend, which was itself preceded by a home win against Sevilla. Leganés, who are yet to win away this season, have lost key forward Martin Braithwaite to Barcelona in a highly controversial transfer. Without Braithwaite they have scored just 12 goals in 24 games. Celta look value.

Matchup: Fortuna Düsseldorf at Freiburg

League: Bundesliga
Date: Saturday, 09:30 a.m. ET

Best Bet: Freiburg to win at 10/11

Freiburg are in with a good chance of European football and they look good value to beat struggling Fortuna Düsseldorf on Saturday. Düsseldorf are the league’s lowest scorers with 21 and their performances have been poor all year. They have won just once since early November. Freiburg slipped up at home to Paderborn in January, but otherwise they have been reliable in home games where they are favourites, winning four of their last five home games 1-0.

Matchup: Brighton & Hove Albion at Sheffield United

League: Premier League
Date: Saturday, 10:00 a.m. ET

Best Bet: Sheffield Unied to win at 19/20

Brighton’s performances have been consistently decent this year but they just are not picking up results. Sheffield United, meanwhile, keep on grinding out wins and somehow find themselves in with a real chance of European football. The Blades have won five of their eight home games against teams in the bottom half, while Brighton have picked up only nine of their 27 points on the road. They are a team that are best suited to playing more proactive teams than Sheffield United, and the hosts look good value to chalk up another win at a shade of odds-on.

Matchup: Newcastle United at Crystal Palace

League: Premier League
Date: Saturday, 10:00 a.m. ET

Best Bet: Newcastle United draw no bet at 2/1

Two of the league’s three most defensive teams face off at Selhurst Park. Both sides are in a similar situation: neither has played very well this year but both have accrued enough points to be fairly confident of survival. A loss for either here, however, would set some alarm bells ringing - and the best play might be to oppose Palace. The Eagles have lost their last three games - to Everton, Sheffield United and Southampton. The latter two defeats were at home to nil. Games at Selhurst Park have yielded the fewest goals of any ground this year, so you want to keep the draw onside, but Newcastle look value to get something.

Matchup: Manchester City at Leicester City

League: Premier League
Date: Saturday, 12:30 p.m. ET

Best Bet: Manchester City to win at 3/4

Just one place separates these two teams but the gulf in quality was huge when Man City swept Leicester aside at the Etihad earlier in the season. City have been rocked by news of their Champions League ban, and their upcoming game against Real Madrid will likely mean Guardiola rotates. But no City XI is bad, and there are signs that Leicester’s defence is not holding out quite as well as it did at the start of the season. They have conceded ten goals in their last five home league games. Wilfred Ndidi may miss out, and so all in all it is hard to see past an away win.
