Ukraine vs. Wales Betting Predictions

Nobody knew how Ukraine would perform in the previous round against Scotland thanks to the war in their country, but they played superbly, and fully merited their place in this match. With their opponents here another British side, they will approach the game in similar fashion.

However, where Ukraine are above Scotland in the rankings, they are below Wales, so this will be a tougher task. Though these teams have only met once since 2001, two of the three clashes ended 1-1 and the other was a 1-0 victory for Ukraine. This should be similarly close.

Wales Betting Analysis

Wales lost to Poland in midweek in the Nations League but manager Robert Page sensibly held back some of his key players with this game in mind. The Welsh only lost once in qualifying (and there’s no shame in being beaten in Belgium) so will be confident of getting a draw in 90 minutes at the very least.

They are also unbeaten on home turf since November 2018. Gareth Bale sat out the Poland defeat and will surely return here. Wales’ all-time top scorer got both of their goals in the win over Austria in the previous round and is undoubtedly the man to watch here.

Ukraine Betting Analysis

Ukraine will be full of confidence after the win over Scotland. Andriy Yarmolenko scored the opening goal in their 3-1 victory, and he also settled his nation’s previous meeting with Wales, a 1-0 success in 2016.

Like Wales, Ukraine don’t lose very often when playing teams of similar standard to themselves. They emerged from their World Cup qualifying group unbeaten. However, six of their eight games ended all-square and that could easily be the outcome here too.

Wales vs. Ukraine Betting Conclusion

With two teams who’ve collectively lost just one of the 18 qualifying matches they’ve played to reach this point, there’s every reason to believe this will be tight. There are unlikely to be many goals so Draw looks a good selection, which Wales has seen in two of four matches.
