Saudi Arabia vs. Mexico Picks, Predictions, Odds

Group C of the 2022 World Cup will conclude on Wednesday and the outcome between Saudi Arabia and Mexico could shake things up not only for themselves but also between the other two opponents in Poland and Argentina.

Saudi Arabia vs. Mexico Picks & Score Predictions

Saudi Arabia faces off for a match that will have major implications on who qualifies for the knockout stages. A win for Saudi Arabia takes them through and a draw probably will. If the points are shared here then the Green Falcons will need anything other than a draw in the other match. A win for Mexico should do it but anything less and they’re out.

That sets things up for an exciting match. We haven’t seen too many goals from these sides yet but expect that to change. Mexico looked a little nervy against Poland on Matchday 1 but kept things tighter against a wounded Argentina. The onus is now on them to take the game to a Saudi Arabia side that was full of errors at the back last time out.

Expect Mexico to come out firing as they need to win. Saudi Arabia can sit back and do what they did so well against Argentina - press and counter.

A 2-1 or 3-1 win for Saudi Arabia makes sense with a late goal or two on the counter, making me back a pair of jackpot wagers here.

Score Predictions:
Saudi Arabia 2 Mexico 1 (+1600)
Saudi Arabia 3 Mexico 1 (+4000)

Saudi Arabia vs. Mexico Best Bets

The goal line is set at 2.5 which feels a little low. I like over 2.5 here at -110 or even combine that with both sides finding the net.

Over 2.5 and Yes on BTTS is at +120. Both look like value bets for this one. Expect Saudi Arabia to force a tight game, especially early on and for things to get stretched after the break. Over 1.5 second-half goals is on the Moneyline.

Best Bet:
Over 2.5 Goals (-110)
Both Teams to Score (-125)
Over 1.5 Second-Half Goals (+100)

Saudi Arabia vs. Mexico Odds

Saudi Arabia +375
Mexico -143
Draw +300
Over 2.5 (-110)
Under 2.5 (-100)

Corners: Over 9 (+120) Under 9 (+100)
Total Cards: Over 4.5 (-120) Under 4.5 (-120)

Mexico is the favorite to win at odds of -143 for El Tri to get three vital points from a tie they simply have to win to stay in the competition. Saudi Arabia is at +375 with the draw slightly behind that at +300. That puts the Asian handicap line at Mexico -0.75.

Saudi Arabia Betting Outlook & Players to Watch

Defence is the best form of attack for Saudi Arabia here. They’ll expect - and want - a match similar to the one on Matchday 1. They spent Matchday 1 out-thinking their way to a win against Argentina. Nobody expected Hervé Renard’s high line that led to 10 offsides for Argentina.

It was a different story on matchday 2 as Saudi Arabia saw far more of the ball and created more chances. Salem Al Dawsari was the key man against Poland, creating more chances and having more shots than any other player. Unfortunately for him and Saudi Arabia, one of those missed chances was via the penalty spot. He’ll be working overtime to atone for that error here. He’s out at +450 to score anytime.

Mexico Betting Outlook & Players to Watch

Will we finally see Raul Jimenez start for Mexico? The Wolves striker has scored more goals for Mexico than any other player in this squad. He is recovering from a groin injury and has started the first two matches on the bench. He may be risked from the off here and is +150 to get one at any time here.

It’s a big game for Hirving Lozano. He was the bright spark for El Tri against Poland on matchday 1 but struggled to make an impact against Argentina. He can’t let this game pass him by and will be hoping for a repeat of 2018. Lozano scored the only goal of the game against Germany to earn Mexico’s place in the knockout stages back then. Lozano is +220 to get one at any time here which looks good.
