Mississippi Sports Betting
Online Sportsbooks · States · Mississippi

Even though most US states still haven’t legalized sports betting, some did it a relatively long time ago. The Magnolia State belongs to that group of states. Not only is Mississippi sports betting perfectly legal, but there’s also an act that prevents future laws from banning it.

Mississippi might be heading towards adding mobile sports betting. In early 2024, a Senate Committee passed House Bill 774, which would legalize mobile sports betting in the state that already has sports wagering allowed at retail casinos.

This came after the House Gaming Committee passed the Mississippi online sports betting bill called the "Mississippi Mobile Sports Wagering Act". This bill will require operators to partner with existing brick-and-mortar casinos and is one of four gambling bills introduced.

HB774 would set the legal betting age to 21 and name the Mississippi Gaming Commission as the regulator of online sports betting. This proposal also allows for one skin per casino. This means there could be approximately 30 betting apps tied to commercial sportsbooks and three to tribal casinos.

Professional and college sports betting, as well as esports and “competitive video game events”, would also be legal. If this passes, the new law would be effective July 1.

At the moment, you can get online with a provider and bet on your favorite sports, but registration and betting must be done in-person at an MGM Resorts Casino in MS.

Mississippi was one of the first states outside of Nevada to legalize sports betting. However, it has held firm to only offering this gaming option through retail sportsbooks in casino properties. Currently, there are close to 30 land-based casinos in the state. Just about every one of these locations operates a retail book.
