Saturday night’s NHL playoff game between the New York Rangers and Pittsburgh Penguins could be the perfect opportunity to get on board. Pittsburgh won the series opener 4-3 on the road in dramatic fashion by scoring the winning goal in triple overtime. New York responded at home in Thursday’s Game 2 with a solid 5-2 victory.

Game 3 of this opening round best-of-seven playoff series is slated for 7 p.m. (ET) at PNC Arena. Bet365 has opened the Rangers as -120 road favorites for this matchup with Pittsburgh set as an even money +100 underdog at home. The key betting line for this game could be the total. Set at 6 goals, the total has gone OVER in each of the first two games.

The total has gone OVER in four of the Rangers’ last five games. It has also gone OVER in five of their last seven games against a team from the NHL’s Metro Division. Pittsburgh also offers a few favorable trends for betting OVER 6 in this game at bet365. The total has gone OVER in four of its last six games. It has also gone OVER in six of the Penguins’ last seven Metro Division matchups.

These two teams met four times in the regular season with New York holding the 3-1 edge. The total did stay UNDER in three of those four games. However, scoring has been rather plentiful in the first two postseason meetings.

Pittsburgh center Evgeni Malkin found the back of the net to end Tuesday’s 4-3 marathon in triple overtime. The Rangers got a huge effort from left winger Artemi Panarin in Thursday’s win with a goal and two assists. New York controlled this game from the start and opened a 3-1 lead halfway through the second period.

The Penguins were able to average 3.28 goals-per-game during the regular season while allowing an average of 2.71 goals on defense. New York had a slightly lower scoring average at 3.05 goals, and it was ranked second in the NHL in goals allowed at 2.49.

Things could certainly tighten up on Saturday night from a scoring standpoint between two teams that always play one another tough. However, there is still some solid value in betting the OVER at bet365 if you are in New Jersey.
