For the men’s side, the favorite is reigning US Open singles champion Daniil Medvedev (+187), followed by Rafael Nadal (+333), Carlos Alcaraz (+450), Nick Kyrgios (+700), Jannik Sinner (+1400), and Matteo Berrettini (+1400). 

Medvedev defeated Novak Djokovic in the men’s singles finals last year (6-4, 6-4, 6-4). Medvedev began the 2022 US Open by knocking off Stefan Kozlov in the first round (6-2, 6-4, 6-0). Medvedev will face Arthur Rinderknech in the second round on Aug. 31 (8:30 p.m. ET). 

Nadal has amassed a record 22 Grand Slam men’s single titles, 14 of which he captured in the French Open. Nadal has been ranked No. 1 in the world for 209 total weeks and has been the year-end top-ranked male tennis player five times. 

Nadal defeated Rinky Hijikata in the first round of the 2022 US Open (4-6, 6-2, 6-3, 6-3). Nadal will take on Fabio Fognini in the second round on Sept. 1 (12 a.m. ET). 

Djokovic and Alexander Zverev aren’t competing on the men’s side. In terms of the women’s side, Angelique Kerber and Sania Mirza withdrew from the event. 

In terms of the women’s competition, Iga Swiatek (+375) is considered the favorite, followed by phenom Cori “Coco” Gauff (+1000), Carolina Garcia (+1200), Ons Jabeur (+1600), Aryna Sabalenka (+1600), and Elena Rybakina (+1800). Star Naomi Osaka checks in at +2000.Serena Williams is listed at +4000 odds. 

Reigning US Open singles champion Emma Raducanu had odds of +2200. However, she was defeated by Alize Cornet in the first round (6-3, 6-3). Raducanu defeated Leylah Fernandez in the women’s singles final in 2021 (6-4, 6-4, 6-4). 

Swiatek began the 2022 US open by beating Jasmine Paolini in the first round (6-3, 6-0). Swiatek will square off with Sloane Stephens in the second round on Sept. 1 (12 a.m. ET). 

Serena Williams topped Danka Kovinic in the first round (6-3, 6-3) in her quest to end her time on the tennis court with one more Grand Slam. Williams will clash with Anett Kontaveit in the second round on Aug. 31 (7 p.m. ET). 

42-year-old Venus Williams was eliminated from singles in the first round by Alison Van Uytvanck. Venus will now reunite with her sister Serena for doubles in the US Open for their first team-up since 2018. 

The US Open is running from Aug. 29-Sept. 11. The total prize money for the competitors in the 2022 US Open will be $60 million.
