Diamondbacks are looking towards the future, but they have been for a few years now. It has become a way of life for Arizona. The Washington Nationals are just three removed from the crown and now face a rebuild. The Nationals are facing that reality more now than ever. The Diamondbacks have opened the second half of the season with two straight wins against the Nationals by a combined score of 17-3. Both teams are in dead last in their respective divisions and just trying to end the season on a good note. The Diamondback will aim for a sweep before National League West rival San Francisco comes to town.

The total for this matchup is set to 9.5 with both the under and overpriced at -110. Going back until last season, five of the 11 meetings have plated a minimum of eight plated runs. The Diamondbacks have been able to plate runs in bunches in this series, and the struggling Nationals bullpen may be why. They own a 4.39 ERA, but that’s just a tick above the Diamondbacks who have a bullpen ERA of 4.33. We can see a lot of runs being plated in this one.
