The Red Sox need wins, but the road will not get any easier with a trip to Minute Maid Park to face the Houston Astros looming. The Red Sox are still in last place in the American League East by an enormous margin of 18 games. The Astros have steadily increased their lead in the American League West, which they now lead by 12 games over the second place Seattle Mariners.

The Red Sox took two of three back in May when these teams met in Boston. Safe to say, these teams are in much different positions today. The trade deadline is also 48 hours away, and both sides could be making exponentially drastic moves. The Red Sox could use a lot, and we should not be surprised if they become sellers.

The Astros have a few needs for the trade deadline. The biggest piece for the Astros to add could be another DH hitter to bring into the fold. Primarily for the likes of Gurriel and Maldanaldo. Gurriel has grossly underperformed this season in general. Maldonaldo provides an excellent backstop to go along with great defense, but he is currently batting only .173. Another bat to bring in for needed timely hitting in the playoffs would not hurt.

The Houston Astros are -185 on the money line at BetMGM while the Boston Red Sox are +150. The Astros are juicy enough for us to consider the run line option. BetMGM has the Astros at -1.5 with a price tag of -110 for both the over and under.

The Red Sox will use Nathan Eovaldi who comes in with a 4.43 ERA in 81.1 innings played. He has been a little susceptible to the long ball, serving up 18 on the season. His last two starts have also been extremely rocky, allowing 13 earned runs in just 8.2 innings. The Red Sox pen is shaky at best, so they will be hoping for Eovaldi to eat up some innings.

The Astros counter Luis Garcia. Garcia’s last few starts have been either exceptionally good, or really bad. He allowed four or more in two of his last five, but in the other three in that span allowed just one earned or fewer. The Astros lost the last Garcia start, but they had previously won six straight when he took the mound.

The current total is set to 8 with both the over and under listed as -110. Both teams have been in recent trends that support an over wager. The Astros are 5-2 to the over in their last seven games while the Red Sox have seen the total go over in four straight road games. When these teams have met up recently, the total has gone over eight of the last 11 times.

The Red Sox and Astros game is a great game to take advantage of BetMGM Sportsbook risk free bet up to $1,000. Remember to use the VIBONUS code at sign up.

Until next time, enjoy the ride.
