The Phillies will turn to Aaron Nola as their starter for Saturday. The right hander is an even 4-4 on the year heading into his 14th start of the season. Behind a solid 2.57 ERA with and an impressive 0.88 WHIP, the ace of the staff gives Philly a great chance to win.

Heading into Friday’s doubleheader at Nationals Park, the Phillies have posted 12 wins in their last 14 games. Nola has picked a pair of wins during that run. MLB bettors have cleaned up betting Philadelphia with plus $866 on the closing BetMGM money line. The total has gone OVER in 10 of the 14 games behind some solid Philadelphia hitting.

Washington has lost its last five games after getting pounded 10-1 in Thursday’s series opener. The Nationals closed as +170 underdogs at home in Game 1. With just two wins in their last 10 games, they are fading fast in the NL East standings, almost 20 games out of first place.

Look for Josiah Gray to get the start for Washington in Saturday’s matchup. This right hander is 6-4 overall through 12 previous trips to the mound this year. Gray is carrying a 4.33 ERA with a 1.32 WHIP in 62.1 innings pitched. In his last start on June 8 against Miami, he pitched five scoreless innings while allowing six hits.

This is the first series between these two division rivals this season. The Phillies improved to an even 14-14 on the road this season with Thursday’s win. They are now three games over .500 on the year at 33-31. Washington slid to 23-43 overall and 11-23 at home with the Game 1 loss.

Philadelphia is ranked third in the National League in runs scored this season with 314. Only the New York Mets and Los Angeles Dodgers have scored more runs. The team’s pitching staff has an ERA of 3.87 which is ranked seventh in the NL.

The Nationals’ pitching staff has struggled all season long with a whopping 5.46 ERA. Runs have been hard to come by as well with an average of 4.08 a game. Washington’s total runs (269) is ranked 12th among the NL’s 15 teams.
