The Sky is atop the Eastern Conference with a 24-8 record. The Sky is 13-3 at home and 11-5 on the road. Their point differential ranks third in the WNBA (+5.6).

The Sun (22-10) trail the Sky by two games in the conference standings. The Sun is 12-5 at home and 10-5 on the road. The Sun lead the WNBA in point differential (+7.3).

The Sun have five players averaging double digits in points, led by reigning WNBA MVP Jones (14.3), who is shooting 49.0 percent from the floor and 35 percent from the 3-point line. Jones is fourth in the WNBA with 8.5 rebounds per game. Alyssa Thomas tallies 13.2 points per game and is third in steals (1.7) and fourth in assists (6.2), respectively, in the WNBA.

The high-powered Sun offense is second in the league in field goal percentage (46.0) and three-point percentage (35.3) while being third in points per game (85.2). Defensively, the Sun is first in steals (8.9), second in fastbreak points (8.1), and third in defensive rating (96.3).

The Sky leads the league in field goal percentage (47.8), while being second in points (86.0) and fifth in three-point percentage (34.9). Defensively, the Sky rank second in blocks (4.5), as well as fifth in defensive rating (98.6) and points off turnovers (15.5).

The Sky has defeated the Sun in all three meetings this season, and all three victories have been by single digits.

In the last meeting, the Sky edged the host Sun 95-92 in overtime on July 31. The Sky used a 9-0 run in overtime to seal the victory, capped with Quiqley’s basket with 8.1 remaining. Copper guided the Sky with 27 points. Vandersloot recorded a double-double with 16 points and 12 assists.

Anchored by a dominant performance from Jones, the Sun should edge the Sky to avoid the season series sweep.
