The potent Sky offense has six players that average double digits in points. Kahleah Copper leads the Sky with 15.5 points along with 5.8 rebounds. Future Hall of Fame member Candace Parker is second on the Sky in points (13.4) and fourth in the WNBA in rebounds (8.6), along with averaging 1.0 blocks. Courtney Vandersloot averages 12.2 points and is second in the WNBA with 6.6 assists. Rebekah Gardner leads the Sky with 1.4 steals per game.
Prior to the contests on Aug. 10, the Sky led the league in field goal percentage (48.3) while being second in points (86.6) and fifth in three-point percentage (34.8). Defensively, the Sky rank second in blocks (4.4), as well as fourth in fast break points (9.1) and fifth in defensive rating (100.0).
The explosive Aces have four players averaging double digits in points. Plum is second in the WNBA at 19.9 points per game. Wilson is fifth in the league in points (19.6), second in rebounds (9.5) and first in blocks (2.0). Gray is fourth in the WNBA with 6.1 assists and also tied for fourth in steals (1.6).
Before the games on Aug. 10, the high-powered Aces led the league in points per game (89.9) and three-point percentage (35.8), and were third in field goal percentage (45.7). Defensively, the Aces are first in defensive rebounds (28.6), points off turnovers (13.1), and second-chance points (8.8), as well as sixth in defensive rating (101.7).
The Sky most recently lost to the visiting Storm 111-100 on Aug. 9. The Storm set a WNBA record with 37 assists. Vandersloot scored a game-high 28 points along with seven assists. Copper added 17 points.
The Aces defeated the Atlanta Dream 97-90 in their last game. The Aces had an extremely balanced offensive performance with four players that scored at least 20 points. Wilson tallied 24 points and 14 rebounds. Gray recorded 22 points and six assists. Plum totaled 22 points and dished out eight assists. Jackie Young scored 20 points with four 3-pointers.
The Sky should exact revenge and top the Aces thanks to a vintage performance from Parker.
