Bet the 2022 Belmont Stakes with TwinSpires Code VIRACING!
Do not let the fact that there won’t be a Triple Crown winner in 2022 stop you from betting on this 154th edition of the Belmont Stakes! In fact, if you take advantage of TwinSpires VIRACING deal, wagering on the Belmont Stakes can be very profitable.
It’s the third year in a row that the attendance for the 3rd leg of this 3-year-old championship series will be limited. Last year, due to covid, only 11,000 spectators were allowed. The year before was “essential personnel only” when the pandemic gripped the entire sports world.
This year, only 50,000 fans will be singing along with Ol’ Blue eyes. The record is over 120,000 visitors! Turns out, the construction of the Islanders’ new home, USB Arena, has reduced the size of the Elmont track’s oval. They’re planning to increase the use of the infield for future editions.
What Do We Know About The Starters For The $1.5m Belmont Stakes
All of these ponies will be trying the mile and a half distance for the first, and last, time. That span is an unusual length in North American dirt racing. It’s part of the difficulty in winning a Triple Crown. Let’s look at the 8 runners, 7 boys and 1 lady, in post-position order comparing each’s chance based on some of the information found in their past performances.
1. We the People (2-1) Rodolphe Brisset (Trainer)- Flavien Prat (Jockey)
Morning line favorite. Coming off an impressive performance in the Peter Pan at the same track with the same jockey.
2. Skippylongstocking (20-1) Saffie Joseph Jr. – Manny Franco
Only two wins were his maiden and a claiming race in March. Getting a new rider after finishing 5th in the Preakness.
3. Nest (8-1) Todd Pletcher - José Ortiz
The only lady entered. Ran a strong 2nd in the Kentucky Oaks and only the Derby winner has more earnings in 2022.
4. Rich Strike (7-2) Eric Reed - Sonny Leon
The Derby winner did not run in the Preakness. That skipping upset some industry players who may have forgotten that not taking the horse’s best interest in mind is one of the reasons the sport is struggling. He’s been part of the Superfecta combination in his last four starts.
5. Creative Minister (6-1) Ken McPeek - Brian Hernandez Jr.
Ran a solid 3rd in the Preakness. Has never been worse than 3rd in 4 career starts.
6. Mo Donegal (5-12) Todd Pletcher - Irad Ortiz Jr. (Updated June 11, 2022 at 1:48PM EDT)
Came from way back on that 1st Saturday in May to grab 5th place. Minus another slow start, the 2nd choice on the program should be in the picture at the wire.
7. Golden Glider (20-1) Mark Casse - Dylan Davis
Ran 2nd to the favorite here in his last out, albeit 10 ¼ lengths behind. Hard to see this one making up those 10+ lengths against this field.
8. Barber Road (10-1) Johnny Ortiz – Joel Rosario
He also ran in the Derby, finishing 6th. This horse closed at the finish in every race of his Triple Crown campaign so expect the same.
Using the TwinSpires VIRACING when you find the best horse to bet in the Belmont Stakes can earn you up to $400 of extra bonus money in your account.
On paper, as most sporting events do, it seems like the horses with the lowest odds are your best choice. That’s why they run the races. This one is further than any of these babies have run before. When they head for the finish on that long Belmont home stretch, some of these horses will look like they’re running backwards. Whether it’s from stamina or their breeding, others will be flying late.
Hopefully, the ones doing the passing will have the same numbers on their saddle cloth that you have on your TwinSpires ticket.
