Dallas comes into Game 2 as a six-point road underdog on the current spread. Caesars has set the total for this game at 216 points. On Monday night, the Mavs were on the wrong end of a 121-114 final score against the Suns as six-point underdogs on the road. The total went well OVER the closing 214.5-point line in that game.

Avoiding the 0-2 hole in this series could be a tall task for Dallas with a straight-up six game losing streak against Phoenix on the road. However, betting the OVER on the total line could be the value play. The total has gone OVER in six of the Mavs’ last eight road games.

The Suns needed six games to get past the New Orleans Pelicans in their opening round postseason debut. With Monday’s win in Game 1 of this series, they are now 4-1 both SU and against the spread in their last five games.

Phoenix opened up a 13 point lead at the half in the series opener and held on for the 10-point victory. All five starters ended that game in double figures led by center Deandre Ayton’s 25 points. Despite Dallas point guard Luca Doncic going off for a game-high 45 points, the Mavericks could never close the gap.

Both teams come into Wednesday night’s contest in good health with no major injuries listed on the latest team reports. The biggest concern for Dallas is a running SU 10-game losing streak against the Suns. Sometimes, one team simply has the other team’s number and that appears to be the case in this matchup. Snapping an extended losing streak on the road is hard to do.

Dallas was able to cover the closing spread in the last five games of its the opening playoff series against Utah. The Mavs went 4-1 SU to win in six games. Phoenix has posted a 5-2 mark ATS in its last seven games closing as a favorite.
