Leavitt can upset Paddy, says Mark O. Madsen

The O2 Arena in London will be the stage for UFC Fight Night: London this weekend and all eyes will be on Paddy “The Baddy” Pimblett who’s set to take on Jordan Leavitt. The former is favored to get the win but Pimblett’s lightweight division rival, Mark O. Madsen thinks it won’t be smooth sailing for the man from Liverpool.

Setting the stage

Pimblett holds an 18-3 record in MMA and his bout against Leavitt will be his third in a UFC octagon.

“The Baddy” made his UFC debut last year, knocking out Luigi Vendramini in the first round at UFC Fight Night 191 on September 4. 2021.

Pimblett featured in his second UFC bout in March of this year at UFC Fight Night 204. He made Eduardo Vargas tap out in the first round, with a rear-naked choke.

Homeland favorite

While Pimblett is a capable fighter, it is his connection with crowds, especially in England, that has made him a social media sensation.

While the fight is not in his hometown of Liverpool, he will still be expecting strong support from the audience at the O2 Arena. And it could also be a key factor in getting into Leavitt’s head and walking away with the win.

Leavitt’s ground game can help him get the win, says Mark O. Madsen

The undefeated Madsen talked to us about this fight and explained why he thinks Jordan Leavitt can cause an upset and walk away with a win.

“Paddy gets his opponents spoonfed. He hasn‘t faced anyone that challenges his weak chin and weak wrestling yet.”

Mark "The Olympian" Madsen

Madsen, a Silver medalist at the 2016 Rio Olympics in Greco-Roman Wrestling, goes on to elucidate why Pimblett's deficiencies in wrestling can cost him:

“Leavitt has a decent ground game and I would not be surprised if he finishes Pimblett via submission."

It should also be noted that one of Pimblett’s three defeats in MMA came via submission. Cameron Else defeated Pimblett via technical submission in the first round back in 2013, when both suited up for CWFC 60 in London.

The stage is set for Pimblett and Leavitt and we might just have an upset on the cards.
