Prior to the results of Monday night’s matchup with the Dodgers, the Brewers are second in the NL Central standings, five games behind the St. Louis Cardinals for first place. Milwaukee went 1-2 SU in their most recent series with the Cubs and have lost six of their last 10 games. Both sides of the ball have struggled over that stretch, with the offense averaging just 3.2 runs per game, well below their season average of 4.53 runs scored per game. Meanwhile, Milwaukee's bullpen has allowed opponents four runs per game over their last 10, not terrible, but still above their season ERA of 3.81 (11th). Despite the speed bump they have hit, the Brewers are still in contention to win the division and are just one and a half games behind the Phillies for a Wild Card spot.  

The Dodgers enter this matchup atop the NL West standings with a commanding 18-game lead over the second place San Diego Padres. It is tough to bet against Tony Gonsolin (15-1, 2.12 ERA) anytime he takes the mound for the Dodgers and this game is no different. With the Brewers offense struggling at the moment, I expect Gonsolin to have a solid outing and hold Milwaukee to just a couple of runs. With little value in backing the Dodgers moneyline, the best play is to back the runline in this matchup.
