2025 World Series Odds: MLB Playoffs, World Series Futures & Betting Trends

World Series odds for the 2025 season immediately reveal something eye-popping: Oddsmakers think there's a huge gap between the Los Angeles Dodgers and everyone else.

And rightly so, based on adding top pitching prospect Roki Sasaki and two-time Cy Young winner Blake Snell to an already superb pitching staff and All-Star lineup. It's impossible not to have the Dodgers as strong favorites in odds to win the World Series.

Here's everything you need to know about 2025 MLB futures odds: action, line movement and betting trends. Check back throughout the season for updates and use our BetMGM bonus code to get the most out of your action.

L.A. Story

Last October. the Los Angeles Dodgers bolted to a 3-0 World Series lead vs. the New York Yankees. The Dodgers ultimately won the Fall Classic in five games.

Then the Dodgers signed Japanese standout Sasaki, proven ace Blake Snell and top reliever Tanner Scott.

Following L.A.'s World Series win, BetMGM opened the Dodgers as +400 chalk in 2025 World Series futures odds. Then came the December signing of Snell and the January signing of Sasaki. With Opening Day upon us. the Dodgers are tidy +240 favorites, with no other team shorter than +900.

"The gap between the Dodgers' odds and the Braves/Yankees in second is the biggest preseason gap that I can remember," BetMGM trader Hal Egeland said. "The main driving factor is the Dodgers' pure talent. It may be the most talented team ever assembled.

"However, the weakness of the AL is a factor here, as well. There isn’t a team at this point that looks to be the clear favorite to take home the AL pennant. So the gap in World Series odds is even greater than what would be expected."

Runaway Leader

In digital wagering (mobile/online) at BetMGM, the Dodgers are taking 17% of all World Series bets at BetMGM and a whopping 37% of all World Series money. That's two times more tickets and four times more money than any other team.

Egeland said bettors are just following the talent.

"It’s baseball, so any team can be beaten in the postseason. But if we were to just look at the rosters, there really isn't much competition," he said. "The Dodgers were clearly the best team in the league last year, and then added Snell, Sasaki and Scott, among others."

Versatile superstar Shohei Ohtani is expected to pitch again this season, as well, after not taking the ball since August 23, 2023.

"They’ll get Shohei Ohtani back on the mound and, at least to start the season, a healthy Tyler Glasnow," Egeland said, alluding to Glasnow returning from elbow tendinitis.

Rather than taking the short price on Dodgers World Series odds, Egeland said another more lucrative option might merit consideration.

"The regular-season wins record is worth a look. It's +750 here at BetMGM," he said of L.A. winning 117 or more games. "Can a healthy Dodgers team be beaten [in a playoff series]? Yes. Would I suggest that any other team will beat them? No."

Tickets and Money

As noted above, bettors are far more interested in the Dodgers than any other team in the 2025 World Series futures odds market.

"Action on the Dodgers has been nonstop. They’re the No. 1 team in bets and handle, and it’s a large gap between them and everyone else," Egeland said. "We often end up cheering on the favorites, despite high handle on these teams. But the Dodgers will not be the case.

"No surprise, they’re our biggest liability. We may be at a point where we’ll just be cheering for the field come October."

Following the Dodgers in ticket count are the New York Mets, New York Yankees, Philadelphia Phillies and Boston Red Sox. In money, the Yankees are No. 2, then the Mets, Red Sox and Phillies.

As Egeland noted above, the Yankees join the Atlanta Braves as the +900 co-second choice in BetMGM's World Series odds. The Phillies follow at +1100, then the Mets at +1200. Boston is the +1800 co-seventh choice.

"Other than the Dodgers, at this point, we’d cheer against the Reds, Red Sox and Giants. But those could change pretty quickly," Egeland said. "The Braves, Astros and Rays all would be great results for us."

Cincinnati opened +4000 and is now a longer shot at +8000. Likewise, San Francisco is +8000, after opening +6000. Houston is more viable, opening +1400 and now sitting at +1800. Tampa Bay opened +4000 and is +5000 as Opening Day arrives.

"There's a lot of teams we’d normally be cheering against. The Yankees and Phillies are two teams that stick out here. But due to the Dodgers interest, we’re in a great spot."

Flying Under The Radar

Egeland pointed to two teams that might be reasonable dark-horse plays as the season begins: the Texas Rangers and Arizona Diamondbacks, who met in the 2023 World Series, with the Rangers winning in five games.

Texas then had a disappointing 2024 season, going 78-84.

"I think the Rangers are due to have a big bounce-back year. A a lot of the smart baseball minds seem to agree. But the betting action hasn’t followed," Egeland said.

Texas opened +2500 back in October and is now +2200.

The Diamondbacks went 89-73 last season, tied with the Braves and Mets in the NL Wild Card chase. But Arizona lost a three-team tiebreaker and didn't make the postseason.

"The Diamondbacks are another team that's probably better than their performance from last year. Adding Corbin Burnes doesn’t hurt either," Egeland said.

Burnes went 15-9 with a 2.92 ERA in 32 starts for Baltimore last season.

Arizona opened and is currently +3000 in BetMGM's World Series futures odds.
