Deebo Samuel Trade Destinations
The NFL offseason stole the spotlight once again on Wednesday afternoon when Jeff Darlington tweeted that Deebo Samuel had told him that he had asked the San Francisco 49ers for a trade. That has led to a flurry of speculation regarding potential suitors for Samuel prior to the NFL Draft.
Samuel is already one of the best receivers in the NFL and finished as the fifth leading receiver in the league in 2021. He is entering the last year of his rookie contract, and there is no doubt that Samuel wants a lucrative new deal considering the big contracts this his contemporaries signed this offseason.
Let's take a look at the possible landing destinations for Samuel, along with team odds. Also listed are futures odds to currently watch if Samuel were to be traded from the 49ers to a different suitor.

Green Bay Packers
Super Bowl Odds: +1100
NFC Championship Odds: +500
Futures to Watch: Aaron Rodgers MVP +800
This is the destination that makes the most sense for Deebo Samuel if the San Francisco 49ers decide to trade their star receiver. Aaron Rodgers and the Packers are in desperate need of a true No. 1 receiver after dealing Davante Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders, as Sammy Watkins is too unreliable. Green Bay currently has the second-lowest odds to win the NFC, but the Packers would close the gap on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with the acquisition of Samuel.
New Orleans Saints
Super Bowl Odds: +4000
NFC Championship Odds: +1800
Futures to Watch: Jameis Winston Comeback Player of the Year +600
Many pundits believe that the New Orleans Saints are poised to take a receiver with one of their two mid-first round picks, but the Saints could potentially nab Samuel to pair opposite Michael Thomas for Jameis Winston. New Orleans has cleared up some of the salary cap issues that haunted the team in the recent past, so it’s not a pipe dream for the Saints to bring in another high-priced receiver.
Indianapolis Colts
Super Bowl Odds: +2500
AFC Championship Odds: +1300
Futures to Watch: Matt Ryan MVP +8000
The Colts have more cap space than they did last month after Matt Ryan agreed to restructure his contract after Indianapolis acquired the veteran quarterback from Atlanta. Indianapolis could have one of the best offenses in the league given their offensive line and top running back Jonathan Taylor, and Deebo Samuel would make that offense even better. The Colts are currently 25-1 to win the Super Bowl, but those odds would fall if Samuel ended up on the roster.
Baltimore Ravens
Super Bowl Odds: +2500
AFC Championship Odds: +1300
Futures to Watch: Lamar Jackson MVP +2200
It’s becoming more evident that Marquise Brown is not a true No. 1 receiver. While Brown did have over 1,000 yards for the first time in his career in 2021, he only averaged 11.1 YPR and had trouble holding onto the ball. Deebo Samuel would instantly make this offense much more potent, and former NFL MVP Lamar Jackson would be terrifying with Samuel as a weapon.
Kansas City Chiefs
Super Bowl Odds: +900
AFC Championship Odds: +500
Futures to Watch: Patrick Mahomes OPOY +1600
This might seem a little far-fetched considering the Kansas City Chiefs dealt Tyreek Hill to Miami and signed JuJu Smith-Schuster and Marquez Valdes-Scantling in free agency. However, the Chiefs have a lot of draft capital and have almost $20 million in cap space. Samuel would certainly be interested in playing with Patrick Mahomes, and this move might make Kansas City the new Super Bowl favorite.
